Isn't it funny how fall has a way of making you slow down and think about things. I find myself thinking more even about silly little things, like what to wear. Summer is all about throwing on cut offs and a tank and getting to work (or fun!), but come fall I take the time to consider what I'm wearing. Will I be warm enough? Will I be happy in what I'm wearing?

In a lot of ways it feels good to refocus my brain and think a lot of things over more in-depthly. Blogging has been this faint whisper in the back of my brain most of the summer. Maybe I'll come back to it, maybe not. Then it became more distinct. A conversation I had with myself, saying it may be time.

I'm usually not a huge pattern mixer. I'd say I'm a pretty simple dresser usually. Not that I'm against it, because I think if it's done right then mixing patterns and colors can be really fun, but it also can be easy to drift into the "I threw everything in my closet on my body" look too, which is not so good, so I usually stay away. Stripes and gingham though? I'm pretty sure they were made for each other. A good black and white stripe sweater is officially on my "never be without" list. It's a great pattern to have on hand that can go with fun colors without overpowering everything. Especially when fall is calling for lots of layers!

See ya in the fall

These photos are actually from a few months back when I did a little feature and DIY for Cut Out + Keep (thanks again for asking me guys!). Now that I'm looking at them I'm just a wee bit sad that my duck boots are now in storage. Don't get me wrong, summer is the best in my book – I love running around barefoot more than anything, but I certainly do love slipping into my cozy little duckboots too. I'm sure it'll feel way too quick that fall sneaks up on us and I'll be putting them on again though – for now I'll just try to take full advantage of the days when shoes are pretty much optional:)

Hope everyone has a great weekend! Me and my mom are way too excited to spend plenty of time at the Devon Horse Show so I'm sure I'll have plenty of photos to share.

Braids and Boots

I think I've finally mastered the maiden braids. It's been crazy windy and raining off and on so much lately that it's become one of the only things I can do with my hair to keep it out of my face all day. Of course mine would probably have to be called "messy maiden braids" since my hair is not exactly a fan of staying nice and neat all day, but the whole "messy hair" thing is cool now, right? On a totally unrelated note I picked up the cutest skirt while thrifting the other day, it's all navy and covered in white sailboats. I had to take it about ten sized down, but now it fits perfect and has me dreaming about the warm summer days at the boardwalk when I can wear it:)

Blustery Days

As Whinnie the Pooh would say, it's been blustery. The kind of blustery that assures that any attempt to wear a skirt or dress will result in a wardrobe malfuntion. So pants it's been. I wore this into Philly last night to have dinner with a friend and the hostesses gave my boots a few funny glances. I guess Duck Boots aren't quite as magical if you don't have to wade through mudd to check on chickens or play with your moose of a puppy everyday. But then again, no other shoe can compare to the warmth of Duck Boots so I'd still wear 'em everyday even if we still lived in the city – case closed.

Where Am I?
