Vintage Gap Dress // Vintage Scarf // Target Hat // Old Navy Boots
Sometimes standing in the woods is the cure to so many ailments. Disappointments, for sure. After having a hard day last week, I got home from work, and almost immediately grabbed my camera and headed back out. We live right down the street from our city park. Acres and acres of untamed, wild woods and streams. There's always new nooks and crannies of it to explore. Growing up we lived in the middle of the woods, and I remember countless hours during the summers spent just wandering around through the trees, so I always feel at home in the woods.
It felt really cathartic to take some photos and focus my brain on more creative tasks, instead of letting myself wallow in the day, which is so easy to do. It's a great reminder that when things are feeling crazy, to just go. Give yourself a little change of scenery and work on something totally different. Don't sit and feel bad for yourself, do something different.
I also played with shooting some video too. It's been a while since I've dabbled, but I really enjoy it. It's such a totally different game, that it's fun to just experiment and see what I can come up with. It's definitely something I'd love to learn about (hint hint, those of you who are much more talented, I'd love to hear your tips! :) I still have some things I'm struggling with, but practice makes perfect, right?
Feel free to check out some of my other videos.

Dress from The Hope Chest // A+F Sweater (thrifted) // Vintage Belt (thrifted)
Target Tights + Hat // Boots c/o Minnetonka
It's getting to be that time of year where it feels like it's been winter forever, and I start dramatically talking about how I can't even remember what summer is like anymore. Then by March I'm usually checking the weather forcast everyday trying to will the tempertures to go up.
What's a better way to distract myself (and possibly freeze to death) then by playing a little more with videos?

Even though Autumn doesn't technically end until almost Christmas, it always feels like Thanksgiving is the last big hurrah for Fall anyway. Even though my family has never been one to make everyone get super fancy for the holiday, everyone still always looks nice and I think we all love giving our Fall wardrobe one last great outfit to end with. When Ellen asked me to share some outfit ideas for Thanksgiving I actually got really excited and ended up digging through my archives to get some ideas. To be honest, I don't know what I'm going to wear yet either, so it was great to start thinking about it and get some ideas together! (PS. Just click on the photos to see the full outfit posts they're from!)
A VINTAGE SKIRT
I love a fun vintage skirt. I especially love the plaid wool skirts that always seem to be hanging around the thrift stores, and then there's the more quirky ones covered in animals or other funny scenes that I just can't get enough of. If you're unsure what to pair with one then sticking with a neutral (denim and chambray are some of my favorite neutrals) can be a safe bet, and if you're feeling more adventurous you can take some cues from the colors in the skirt and bring in other complimentary ones too!
PENCIL SKIRTS + FLANNELS
Pencil skirts are great if you're going for a more dressed up feel, and pairing them with flannels and plaids make things feel festive! Also, some orange tights can be fun too:)
Not every family gets super dressed up for Thanksgiving, but everyone still likes to look nice! A sweater layered with a button down is a classic, but what about adding an extra button down to the mix? Layering a nice comfy sweater with your favroite leggings can assure you'll be comfy all day and stll look nice too. And of course blazers are great for keeping a casual outfit still feeling more pulled together.
Sometimes you can totally change things up with an old dress for the holidays by adding fun accessories! I made this leaf headband a while back which would be perfect for a fun Thanksgiving outfit. Fun colored tights, unique shoes, hats, and patterned scarves are also some of my favorite accessories.
A SIMPLE VINTAGE DRESS
Sometimes a lovely vintage dress can speak for itself. A lot of the time all it needs is a pair of tights and some shoes to make a complete outfit. If you're lucky you can find great ones for cheap at your local thrift stores, but nowadays vintage shops aren't just in big cities, but little towns too, if you'd rather go straight to the good stuff!
Of course there's tons of other things that would be fun to wear for thanksgiving (pairing your summer maxi skirt or dress with more autumnal colors and layering pieces would be lovely) but hopefully this helps get your brain moving if you're like me and still haven't decided on an outfit!

It's that time of year when every other week is a local county or 4H fair and I adore it! I'm excited to go this week to see my friend and her students show their horses, and cry over wanting to bring home a goat and a couple bunnies (the norm, ya know). Of course, I get daydreamy about what to wear even to a country fair, and you know I'm all about keeping it pretty simple and classic. My favorite thing about all of these peices is that they could be easily mixed with other things nd wouldn't be just a one-time-wear, which is something over the years I've learned to say no to, even when I love something, if I can't wear it more then one way then it's probably not worth it.
Coffee Bean There Bag // Pretty much completely in love with this bag. It's gorgeous, has tons of pockets, and looks like it could easily fit my camera in it too, so extra points for that!
Show Jumping Horse Print Dress // A horse print dress. Um, yeah. No need for further comment.
Arrowstack Necklace // So lovely! I could see myself wearing it everyday
Leica M7 // I'll just keep on dreaming:)
Panama Hat // I've been looking for a classic Panama hat for a while now and this one looks so perfect (of course it's J.Crew – I find myself drooling over a different hat there every season it seems).

Thrifted Shirt + Shoes // Target Shorts (thrifted) // Anthropologie Belt // Antique Necklace
I wish I had something witty or fun to say today but I've spent the majority of the weekend taking and editing 700+ photos and I still have more to do and more to take, so I think my brain is officially computer-fried. Me and the husband and grabbing lunch together today though so hopefully a big helping of mac+cheese will clear my little brain fog here:)
Hope everyone has a lovely Monday!
