Thankful

Simple Thanksgiving Outfit

What would you do if you woke up and only had the things you were thankful for the day before?

This past Sunday I visited my sister's church with her and the pastor asked that question, and it really hit me. I usually think of myself as pretty thankful person, and am usually conscious that I am fortunate in a lot of ways, but if I stop and image myself only having what I've taken time to be specifically thankful for, well, I wouldn't have much. It may be cheesy and cliche this time of year to talk about being thankful, but I do think it's an important tradition. Things get crazy, and it's easy for even good things to feel like burdens sometimes, but maybe if we stop to take the time to be thankful for them, even when they do feel heavy, it will make them feel just a little bit lighter.

I'm especially thankful for puppies, even when they insist on being in all of your photos.

Isn't it funny how fall has a way of making you slow down and think about things. I find myself thinking more even about silly little things, like what to wear. Summer is all about throwing on cut offs and a tank and getting to work (or fun!), but come fall I take the time to consider what I'm wearing. Will I be warm enough? Will I be happy in what I'm wearing?

In a lot of ways it feels good to refocus my brain and think a lot of things over more in-depthly. Blogging has been this faint whisper in the back of my brain most of the summer. Maybe I'll come back to it, maybe not. Then it became more distinct. A conversation I had with myself, saying it may be time.

6 Autumn Inspired Crafts and DIYS to try

Fine and Feathered Fall Crafts

Fall is definitely one of my favorite times of year to get my hands dirty and make something pretty. Evey year I always seem to have a list a mile long of things I want to make and do during autumn, and this year isn't any different. I also love looking back on some of projects from years past, a lot of which I still pull out every fall!

GLITTERED DIPPED FEATHERS

Who doesn't love adding a little glitter here and there? I still use these glitter dipped feathers to decorate the house. I love the little bit of sparkle they add!

SIMPLE KNIT INFINITY SCARF

Every year I am always begging my mom to knit me up a new scarf. She makes the prettiest knits, so I was so excited to have her do a little tutorial on how to make your own infinity scarf for the knitters out there last year!

AUTUMN LEAF ART

Preserving and showing off fall leaves in your home is super easy, and is an awesome way to bring some of that fall beauty into your home.

RUSTIC TREE BRANCH CANDLE HANGER

When the sun starts to set earlier and earlier I love adding extra candles around the house. I still love the rustic element that this tree branch candle hanger that I made gives a room!

HALLOWEEN BUNTING

Halloween is actually one of my favorite holidays. It's just plain fun, and I love that! And what's more fun than adding a little holiday spirit to your home with a little bat bunting?

AUTUMN LEAF COASTERS

These super simple coasters are still one of my favorite DIYs! They're easy to make and are such a cute addition to a coffee table, or even Thanksgiving table setting.

Free People Sweater + Hat // Levi's Jeans // Old Navy Boots

It's, what feels like, everyone's favorite time of year. Especially here in the northeast. We love a good autumn. This past weekend was the first real cold snap so far. Even though I'm always torn, and so sad to see summer leave, I still am determined to focus on all the good. The comfy sweaters, the pretty leaves, and cozying up to a roaring fire at night. I am also exstatic to be finishing up redoing my craft room (which has been my summer-long project). Fall always has me craving to get my hands dirty, do some sewing, and make something just for fun, so I can't wait to have everything set up again.

Doesn't it feel like Memorial Day just happened? To now be passed Labor Day feels surreal. I always feel hugely torn this time of year, I feel this huge surge of love for autumn, but to know that winter will soon follow that always brings me down a bit. This year, though, I've really been trying to focus more and more on the moment, and try to just enjoy what's here. One of the farms I drive by every day already has pumpkins out, and I smile a little bit whenever I pass them. I'm already planning what I'm going to bake, thinking of all the movie nights I need to have, and just trying to remind myself that sweaters are pretty awesome too.

How are you all feeling about the upcoming change?
